On an off-shoot of my earlier post about the beginning of live web streaming of Gator men's and women's home basketball game (and soon some road games). The men's Gators team, who of course get much more press then the women's, as in most sports have been receiving some actual media attention lately. They of course, for the second week in a row received some votes in the National Association of Basketball Coaches top 25 poll for division 2 basketball.
This is awesome! The Gators basketball team is exciting and explosive when their on the court. They haven't been ranked in the NABC top 25 poll is 1994 and it would be a big deal for the school if they were able to crack it. So congrats Coach Tressler and the Gators for bringing some long over due recognition to SF State athletics.
Recently, on Friday December 12th to be exact, the Gators actually made the SF Chronicle! I know, I know, crazy right, if you don't believe me check here at Gators Climbing From The Depths on sfgate.com.
Thank you Chronicle we at State appreciate the fact that you have finally acknowledged we have a team on the court. For all the coverage you hand over to the USF Dons it would be nice if occasionally they mentioned that there was a state college with a team also. I understand that as far as local schools are concerned SF state lacks athletic credibility and all the national hoopla that some of the other schools warrant. But come on! It's San Francisco State, it's a local school and we've been around forever. The Chronicle loves to jerk off USF, San Jose State, Fresno State and even St. Mary's in Moraga.
Somebody please tell me what the Gators have to do to occasionally get some coverage...
Remember live stats and live web casting of home Gator basketball games on ustream.tv/sfstate, check it out and show the Gators the love the Chronicle refuses to give.
